Welcome to 2026 at Rivers

We’re now firmly into 2026, and many of us are thinking about how to stay active, feel healthier and build routines that actually last. At Rivers, our focus this year is clear. We want to make it simpler, easier and more supportive for local people to move more and look after their wellbeing.

We understand that exercise has to fit around real life. Work, family commitments, health issues and confidence levels all play a role. Our aim isn’t to promote unrealistic goals. It’s to help you find consistent habits that feel achievable and worthwile.

Whether you visit us regularly, use our centres occasionally or are considering joining for the first time, here is what you can expect from Rivers throughout 2026.

A supportive place to be active

We know it can sometimes feel intimidating walking into a leisure centre, especially if you haven’t exercised in a while. We take that seriously.

Across our sites you’ll find:

  • Clear, easy to follow information

  • Friendly teams who are genuinely happy to help

  • Activities suitable for different ages and fitness levels

  • Options for beginners and those returning to exercise

You don’t need to already be fit to come here. You just need to start, and we’re here to guide you.

Choice that suits different lifestyles

People enjoy different types of activity. That’s why we continue to offer a wide mix, including:

  • Gyms with advice available if you want it

  • Public swimming and family sessions

  • Lane swimming for structured training

  • Group exercise classes with a range of intensities

  • Low impact options for those who need something gentler

  • Social sports for people who enjoy being active with others

Our aim is to give you options so you can find something you actually want to stick with.

Focus on long term health, not quick fixes

Short bursts of motivation come and go. Long term health comes from small, repeatable actions. Throughout 2026, we’ll continue supporting members with simple, realistic guidance and reminders that progress doesn’t have to be dramatic to be meaningful.

If you need advice, accountability or reassurance, our staff are here. Sometimes the hardest part is simply getting started again, and that’s completely normal.

A community space, not just a gym

Rivers isn’t only about equipment and timetables. It’s also about connection. Many people visit our centres to feel part of something, see familiar faces and build routine into their week.

Whether you’re training towards a goal, working on your fitness or just taking some time out for yourself, you’re welcome here.

Looking ahead

We’ll continue reviewing out programmes, listening to feedback, introducing new sessions where possible and improving what we offer.

Thank you to everyone who already uses our centres and to those thinking about joining us this year. We’re looking forward to supporting you throughout 2026.

If you have questions, need help choosing activities or want to talk through where to begin, just speak to a member of the team next time you’re in.

We’re happy to help you keep moving at your own pace, in a way that fits your life.
