Reducing Our Carbon Footprint:

At Rivers, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact and promoting sustainability in all aspects of our operations. As part of this commitment, we are taking concrete actions to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier planet. Some of the key initiatives we are implementing include:

1. Investing in Low Carbon Infrastructure: We are proud to announce a significant investment exceeding £3 million to implement low carbon heat and power systems at our Pershore and Evesham Leisure Centres. This initiative aims to replace outdated gas heating systems with state-of-the-art air source heat pumps, install destratification fans, and incorporate solar panels to enhance energy efficiency and renewable energy generation.

2. Emission Reduction Targets: We have set ambitious emission reduction targets for each of our leisure centres, aiming to achieve emission reductions ranging between 60% and 90%. These targets align with our overarching goal of reducing our carbon emissions by at least 75% by 2030, contributing to regional and national efforts to combat climate change.

3. Community Engagement: We actively engage with our community to raise awareness about environmental sustainability and encourage participation in eco-friendly practices. Through educational initiatives, events, and partnerships, we strive to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and inspire positive change in our community.

4. Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continuously monitoring and evaluating our environmental performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions to further reduce our environmental impact. By embracing a culture of continuous improvement, we aim to lead by example and drive meaningful change towards a more sustainable future.

Rivers Fitness aims to set & achieve the highest possible standards for our own environmental performance & provide effective environmental management for all our premises ensuring appropriate approaches are developed & maintained, providing sufficient resources to achieve the objectives of this policy.

We will comply with, & where practical exceed, the requirements of all relevant UK, & commitment to these aims.

We will meet the aims by:

• Working with our strategic partners particularly Wychavon District Council.

• Using effective control measures to reduce environmental risks & impacts, contributing to the conservation & protection of the natural environment.

• Setting challenging environmental targets to minimise our effects.

• Monitoring & auditing our environmental activities.

• Improving our environmental best practice from learning from the experience of our staff, & other UK leisure organisations.
