Welcoming Basketball Player Tig Wilks to the Gifted & Talented Scheme
We’re delighted to welcome wheelchair basketball player Tig Wilks to our Gifted & Talented sponsorship scheme!
Tig competes in both the British Wheelchair Basketball Women’s Premier League and National League and is preparing for her second season with Cardiff Met Archers. Although she only began competing in wheelchair basketball in May 2025, she has already made significant progress within the sport and is looking forward to continuing her development during the upcoming season.
Alongside her sporting commitments, Tig is a full time student at the University of Worcester, where she’s studying Physical Education with a specialism in Adapted PE. Her long term goal is to become a PE teacher, helping to create inclusive opportunities for future generations to enjoy sport and physical activity.
As part of our Gifted & Talented scheme, Tig hopes to use her platform to raise awareness of disability sport and adapted physical activity. she’s passionate about demonstrating that sport can be accessible to everyone an encouraging more people to explore the opportunities available to them.
Tig also hopes to highlight the accessible facilities and resources available at Evesham Leisure Centre, helping to showcase the support that exists for those with reduced mobility and additional needs.
The Gifted & Talented scheme supports local athletes by providing access to facilities and helping them balance the demands of training, competition, education and everyday life. The programme is designed to assist talented sportspeople as they work towards achieving their goals while also inspiring others within the local community.
We’re proud to support Tig as she continues her journey in wheelchair basketball and look forward to following her progress both on and off the court.
Everyone at Rivers wishes Tag the very best for the season ahead!
