Rivers Employee Recognition Award Q3 2026

We’re delighted to recognise Sam, a lifeguard at Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre, as the latest recipient of our Employee Recognition Award.

The award celebrates members of the Rivers team who make a real difference through their work, and Sam has demonstrated exactly that.

Great service, every day

As a lifeguard, keeping customers safe is a key part of Sam’s role, but his contribution goes beyond the poolside.

Sam has been recognised for his consistently positive approach to his work and the way he engages with customers and members of the public. Friendly, approachable and always willing to help, he is a great example of the service we want people to experience when they visit our centres.

Stepping up when the community needed support

Sam also went above and beyond during the local fires this summer.

When a fire in Pershore led to local residents being evacuated to Pershore Leisure Centre, the centre became a place of support for members of the community affected by the incident.

Sam played an important role in helping the team respond, supporting the centre and those arriving during what was an unexpected and challenging situation.

His willingness to step in and help when it mattered most is a fantastic example of the commitment our teams show to the communities we serve.

More than a leisure centre

Our leisure centres are places to swim, exercise, learn new skills and look after your health, but they're also an important part of their local communities.

When unexpected situations happen, we're incredibly proud of team members like Sam who are willing to step up and support those around them.

Sam’s Employee Recognition Award celebrates both the fantastic work he does every day at Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre and the contribution he made during the response in Pershore.
