Why Learn to Swim With Us?

Being able to swim is one of the most valuable life skills you can give your child.

At Rivers, our swimming lessons teach important water safety skills and also build confidence and inspire a love of being active from an early age.

We welcome children from as young as 4 months old, with fun, supportive lessons designed for every age and ability.

Our Junior Swimming Programme

Our structured STA Learn to Swim (Stages 1-7) programme takes children on a journey from their first splash to becoming confident, capable swimmers. Lessons focus on developing water safety, confidence and core swimming skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Lessons are taught by qualified instructors who help every child progress at their own pace while building confidence in and around the water.

  • Suitable for children aged 5+

  • Small class sizes for individual support

  • Continuous assessment so children can progress when ready

  • Progress tracked through the STA Learn to Swim programme

  • Strong focus on water safety and lifelong swimming skills

Before You Book

If you’re booking junior lessons, to make sure your child joins the right class, please complete our Swim Stage Finder Questionnaire below. This helps us identify the most suitable lesson stage based on current swimming activity.

Once submitted, you’ll be guided to the correct stage to book.

Learn To Swim: Grades 1 - 7

    Grade 1

    Grade 1 helps to build water confidence, while introducing water safety skills and the basic movements needed to start developing swimming ability.

    Grade 2

    Grade 2 focuses on developing basic swimming techniques, improving confidence and encouraging independent movement through the water.

    Grade 3

    Grade 3 helps swimmers build coordination, confidence and control while developing stronger movement and breathing techniques across a range of strokes.

    Grade 4

    Grade 4 focuses on improving stroke technique, water safety awareness and swimming stamina while encouraging more efficient movement in the water.

    Grade 5

    Grade 5 develops stronger technique across all strokes, improved breathing control and greater confidence swimming over longer distances.

    Grade 6 helps swimmers refine stroke efficiency, build endurance and develop advanced aquatic and water safety skills.
