Achieving Excellence in RLSS Training Standards and Enhancing Accessibility

Stacey Evers, Rob Dufty, and Lee Oliver.

At Wychavon Leisure, we're thrilled to celebrate a significant achievement across our four sites – Droitwich Leisure Centre, Evesham Leisure Centre, Droitwich Spa Lido, and Pershore Leisure Centre. Our team of RLSS Trainer Assessors recently underwent a rigorous External Quality Assurance Assessment (EQA) by the Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS). We're delighted to announce that we not only passed, but achieved an overall compliance status rated as excellent.

The audit covered various crucial aspects, ensuring our commitment to top-notch standards:

What We Were Audited On

  • Compliance with Wychavon Leisure and RLSS policies.

  • Evaluation of equipment used for training purposes.

  • Assessment of Trainer Assessor risk ratings.

  • Assessment of ongoing training delivery and documentation.

  • Evaluation of National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) course delivery and documentation.

Congratulations to Our Stellar Team

We're very proud of the individuals who contributed to this success:

  • Evesham Leisure Centre: Lee Oliver, Claire Malin, and Kael Baker

  • Pershore Leisure Centre: Jack Betteridge, Jennifer Phillips, and Rob Dufty

  • Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre and the Lido: Stacey Evers and Seb Parker

Commemorating the Achievement

In the snapshot of success, we capture the faces behind our accomplishment: Stacey Evers, Rob Dufty, and Lee Oliver, who exemplify our dedication to maintaining high RLSS training standards.

In another stride toward inclusivity, members of our team recently participated in a comprehensive Visually Impaired training session at Evesham Leisure Centre. The training, expertly presented by the Thomas Pocklington Trust team, shed light on the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals in their daily lives.

Embracing Inclusivity

The session prompted essential discussions on how our staff can offer assistance when needed, emphasising the impact of seemingly small changes within our centres that can immensely benefit those with visual impairments.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Louise, Ashleigh, Ed, and Andrew from the Thomas Pocklington Trust for delivering invaluable insights and guidance during the training session.

At Wychavon Leisure, inclusivity lies at the heart of our ethos. We're proud to create an environment that welcomes everyone, ensuring our facilities are accessible and accommodating for all. Our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond just excellent training standards, it's about fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and included.

In a recent Visually Impaired training session hosted at Evesham Leisure Centre, our team engaged with the Thomas Pocklington Trust, delving into the challenges faced by visually impaired people in their daily lives. This session sparked important discussions on how small changes within our centres, can make a significant difference in creating a more inclusive space for everyone.

We're dedicated to not only maintaining high RLSS training standards but also to ensuring that Rivers is a place where diversity is celebrated, and where everyone feels empowered to participate, regardless of their background or ability.

Join us in celebrating inclusivity and excellence as we continue our commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all our visitors at Rivers!
