Michael is an outstanding, 16 year old Hockey player that we proudly supporting as part of our Gifted & Talented Scheme.
August saw Michael take a huge leap in his career, with his nomination and acceptance on to DiSE (Diploma in Sporting Excellence). This was due to Michael’s impeccable high-level performance, throughout the Performace Centre Cycle last year. It involves four residential camps over the course of this academic year, with work to be completed both within and between each camp.
“This is as a direct result of the brilliant facilities and fantastic support that I have received from Rivers Fitness, which allows me to work hard on getting fitter, faster, stronger and more robust, so I extend a huge thank you to them!”
During this camp (2 days long) Michael participated in three high intensity pitch sessions with international standard coaches (totalling 6 hours on pitch). In addition to the pitch sessions, Michael is now attending talks from leading sports nutritionists and sports psychologists on how to manage the demands of elite sport, as well as talks from England Hockey physiotherapists in injury management and prevention.
We look forward to seeing Michael continue to achieve highly and we hope to one day see him playing for England!
